Often peated, regularly smoky and typically strong is a general rule of thumb however encompassing both the Highlands themselves and the as yet unrecognised Islands sub-region the highlands cannot be said to offer only a single style or style.

As the largest whisky producing region in Scotland, the largest producer of whisky in the world Highland malts are as varied as the landscape, from coastline to mountain to moor Highland distillery’s boast a range defying simple categorisation. As a hint you’ll find lighter, fruitier styles in the eastern and southern Highlands, Going further North, or to the eastern coast you’ll find more rugged offerings.
